Parrot for Sale
There is a great diversity of pet birds, all of them being marvelous creations, so it takes quite a bit of consideration when it comes to choosing the right parrot for sale. Wild parrots can be found throughout the tropical and subtropical belt. Due to their beautiful appearance and stunning intelligence, parrots are widely popular as pets, and some species have been hunted to extinction. There are parrot species threatened by extinction; therefore, today parrot trade is regulated in countries that have joined the Convention of International Trade in Endangered species (CITES). There are also a few more reasons why many parrot species are on the decline, such as deforestation and persecution as pests.
There are a number of parrots for sale that are kept as pets, including Cockatoos, Cockatiels, Macaws, Amazons, Caiques, Conures, Parakeets, Budgerigars, Lovebirds, Electus, and African Grey Parrots. They differ in size, and hence they have different care requirements. As a rule, size of bird is directly proportionate to the size of cage or aviary – the larger the bird, the larger the home should be.
Parrots, along with jays, crows and ravens, are the most intelligent birds. Many species are capable of speech imitation, which is one of the main reasons for their popularity. Some species, such as the African Grey parrot, are even known to talk in sentences and associate words with subjects they denote. They can accumulate the vocabulary of over 1000 words, and are comparable with a 2-year-old child in terms of speaking and intelligence level. Therefore, African Greys are most popular parrots for sale.
Although parrots for sale are commonly known to be gentle and intelligent creatures, having one in possession can be challenging, and hence it is not for everyone. They have very delicate temperaments that are extremely sensitive to those of their owners. Their superb intelligence requires permanent stimulation through games and interaction. Caring for a pet parrot is like caring for a small child, except it is for many years to come, depending on your parrot’s life span. Failure to provide your parrot with entertainment may result in moody, noisy or aggressive behavior. Large parrots have very strong nut-cracking beaks, and they can use them against you if scared or agitated.
There are lots of pet stores and breeders involved in parrot trade. If you would like to have a parrot in your home, please, think twice before making up your mind and do not make off-the-cuff decisions. It takes a great deal of time and thinking to determine the right species for you, and you’ve got to be very careful when choosing a place where to purchase a parrot. Pet stores are not usually recommended because of a high risk of getting an ill parrot. Choosing a conscientious breeder is the best option, although it can be more expensive. If you feel like you have found a good parrot for sale, make sure you can cope with the hardships of owing one.
